Dr Akshay Deoras is a meteorologist, researcher and public speaker. He is currently a Research Scientist at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science and the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading, United Kingdom. His research interests primarily focus on the dynamics and predictability of the Indian monsoon and high-impact weather events in the tropics.
Dr Deoras has over 15 years of experience in forecasting the weather in the Indian subcontinent and advising millions of people through simplified advisories. For his expertise in meteorology and climate science, he was invited by the Government of Maharashtra, India to develop a robust weather forecasting system in Maharashtra, India’s second most populous state.
Dr Deoras is known for simplifying the complexities of climate change, climate and atmospheric science. He is a regular guest on television and radio programmes across the world, and is frequently invited to write editorials on various aspects of meteorology and climate change.
